Posing, Rigging & Final Model Showcase!
This blog contains all my process on rigging and posing my model, as well as my final renders and complete model!
I also created a third part YouTube Video showcasing a timelapse of my entire process. Everything I talk about in these blogs can be evidenced by this video!
Creating a Simple Rig
Creating a rig in Maya can be done in a few different ways. Option 1. Manually creating a rig from scratch. This option allows you to create a huge variety of movement, twists and pulls, flexibility and to perfectly rig your model. However, it takes a very long time to do correctly. Or, option 2. To use Maya's built in Auto Rig, which is a lot faster but also a lot messier and with less control.
Manually rigging models is usually the go-to method for many animation or game ready models, as they are much cleaner and work much better. However, an auto rig can be suitable for things such as background backgrounds that's movements won't be too noticeable, or creating a simple pose for a character.
I opted to use an Auto Rig, as i only wanted to simply pose my character and didn't have a lot of time to learn how to manually make one. To create an Auto Rig in Maya, you go to the Rigging Pallet, then Skeleton and then Quick Rig.
Posing and Rendering
Finally, it was time to pose and render her! I created a few different simple poses and rendered them out using the Arnold Renderer. I exported them as pngs to allow myself to edit them easily.
Finalised Showcase
Below, is my finalised model showcase! Here is my fully finished rendered and rigged model, showcased a few different poses and angles! I also attached an image of my original concept design for comparison! Overall, I am really happy with how my model turned out. There are defiently things I think I could've improved upon, but I will discuss those in my overview blog in more depth!
