Week 9: Workshop & Character Development

 Character Idea Creation and Development

This week in class, we had a workshop lesson where we were free to work on ideas for our character models, as well as do some research and development on anything concerning our project we liked.

For this project, we were presented with a selection of different characters we could create a model themed off of. These were only prompts, and we were allowed to take them in any creative direction as long as they still fit the theme. Out of the 10 character themes, i decided to go with the forest guardian - as i felt that it was the theme i could work best on and was defiently more my style. I enjoy creating cute and colourful characters, especially with animals and flowers etc. so i felt like this theme would be perfect for me!

Character Research

Initial Notes/Ideas:

Forest guardian character ::
- Swamp - lilypad?
- Forest
- Flower field
- Giant familiar: snail pet/frog/small creature
- Flower themed
- giant tree
- Flower language
- Mushrooms

Initially, i had lots of different ideas for this character. There was a part of me that wanted to make a creepy but cute swamp creature, another part of me that wanted to take the theme very literally and create something tree-like, and another part that wanted to take a more fairy-like approach and create a dainty flower creature. I had lots of ideas, so i began to research into different topics and create quite a few concept sketches and ideas.
