3D Modelling Work
This week, we decided as a group to assign each other 3D Tasks to all work on together. we decided to evenly spilt the work between us, which was organised by our 3D Lead Amare. We were each given a task of different things to work on modelling, so we'd have multiple examples of 3D work each. I was tasked with creating some Nottingham buildings and landmarks that could be present within our game.
I had previously created some sketches and concepts of different landmarks and things that could be included in our game, so I tasked myself with creating some models of them. I also wanted to try and make some environment things, such as rocks inside the caves etc.
Below, shows a document of my modelling process while creating my models based upon the concept sketches I created. I started by creating a simple pillar based upon the concept design I had made, though I made a few adjustments to make it simpler to fit with the feel off our game more.
After creating the model of one pillar, I used the duplicate feature the create more copies of it. I then used this pillar template to place on a sphere base I made for the small tower structures. These structure bases were made by extruding and altering a cylinder model. I placed the pillars an equal distance apart from each other To make sure everything was symmetrical.
For the roof, I imported another cylinder which i extruded and made smoother using edge loops and altering as i went along. I imported a sphere on the top of the tower to replicate my concept sketch.
For my second tower, I used a similar technique and base except this time i added a sphere in the centre to be the main building. I then added edge loops and extruded the model inwards to create a window like arch shape to replicate my concepts.
Research Document
Last week after we reviewed our presentation feedback, We decided to create a research document studying Nottingham wildlife and sealife, and seeing if we could take any inspiration from it to maybe incorporate into our game. As the Research Lead, i decided to do this task and create a very simple research document about different fish and Sealife species that live within Nottingham and can be found mostly within the River Thames. I documented very basic information about each species, as well as added images so we could go through and see if any of them stuck out to us and we could use them for inspiration. As well as this, i also did some brief research into things such as Topography and Cave Density within Nottingham to help us get an idea of how much flooding could possibly take place and the different caves spanning across Nottingham as well as what they were made of etc.

I think that this research was beneficial, as I think it can be seen evident within some of the later designs the others in my group came up with, and how the inspiration was slightly taken from the different things listed. For example, for our final boss designed by Sam, it is evident inspiration from eels and also Lampreys can be seen. While the colours are more different and artistic, they work well for the vibe of our game and are unique enough to show that they aren't copied from the actual creatures and just inspired. This can also be seen in some of the plant environments created by Lydia, where the bottom left one looks like it takes inspiration from the Water Crowfoot commonly found in Nottingham Riverlife.Drawn and Designed by Sam (image taken from our discord group)
