Concept Designs & Pixel Art Variants

This week, I was tasked with creating a few more concepts of different flora and creatures by our group leader/director Lydia. While we had a selection of different plants and creatures, we didn't have many versions of these things looking more destroyed, dead and infected. Within our game, the deeper down into the caves the MC travels the darker and more dangerous the environment becomes. We decided that we should create a few more concepts of already existing plants we had previously designed for the game and make darker more infected versions.

I created a few concept sketches of different plants based up work previously done by members in my team and tried to create a more lifeless or destroyed version of them. I made the plants with leaves droopy and lifeless looking, and also added chips and erosion to the coral like plants as that is something similar that happens to them in the wild.

For colours, I wanted to use a similar palette to what we had previously been using within the game and to the plants already existing concepts, but a much more toned down version to really give it a feeling of being dead and weak. I wanted the colours to resemble the design they were inspired by, to show that they are the same plants but a much worse and dangerous version of them.






These are the plants i created variations of, the original designs were created by Lydia and Sam within my team.
