Concepts & Art Research
This week, we worked on creating assets and concepts of our ideas to compile int our PowerPoint presentation! We each assigned each other sections of the PowerPoint to work on, and also each continued to work on our concept art and generating some ideas that we could showcase in the PowerPoint.
LOGO CONCEPTS
I began by creating some logo concepts for our team, As well as testing a few different font variations. I asked for some feedback from our group and the top row middle design was the most popular. From this feedback, I created few variants of finalised designs for our logo that we could use.
In our logo, I also used a font. When using fonts and other assets that can be acquired online in projects such as a game, I needed to make sure it was free use. I used a site called DaFont, which is a provider for multiple different free fonts that can be used by anyone. The website does contain some pay to use fonts too, but they all specify in their description if they are free for commercial use or not.
ASSETS FOR POWERPOINT
As well as creating a logo, I also created a few assets we could use throughout our PowerPoint to make our presentation look nice, while also fitting the mood and theme of our game. These consisted as things such as backgrounds, textboxes and decorations for our slideshow.
INITIAL CHARACTER COCNEPTS
Alongside working on content for our PowerPoint, I also created my first set of concept designs for my character I was assigned. In our group, we are each designing one character which will be finalised in the same style for the in-game sprites by me.
Art Research
We also discussed doing some more art research, and looked into a few different styles each. I collected a small selection of games I was interested in and wrote a few notes on our group Miro board to share with everyone else. These notes consisted of things such as things about the styles I liked and thought would work well in our game, as well as notes about different mechanics of the games.
